James Mercer Treadwell, III, CFA®

Mercer’s primary focus is leading and directing the investment process for client portfolios. His professional passion is creating efficient portfolios that will help clients sleep well at night. Mr. Treadwell and his team are responsible for strategic and dynamic allocation modeling, along with manager research, and due diligence on all money managers and fund managers considered by the investment policy committee. With over 23 years of experience in the industry, he is well equipped to interpret performance-related data including: basic rate of return, peer group analysis, attribution analysis and risk analysis including single and multi-factor models, information ratio, tracking error, volatility of returns and Sharpe ratio.

Before working at FinTrust, Mercer worked for SunTrust Bank in their Master Trust department and Creative Financial Group in their Asset Management department.

Mercer is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Melissa Treadwell. They have two boys, Evan and Parrish. Mercer is actively involved in the Athens community through various sports programs, including Oconee Country Recreation Department, Oconee Little League, Upward Basketball, and Prince Avenue Christian School. His family is active at Athens Church, and he just completed 5 years as a boys small group leader.
